SARAH & LEWIS
23.8.2025
Accommodation
There are a range of hotels within a taxi ride of the wedding venue. We have listed the places we’ve driven past and look decent, but you might also want to look up places in St Neots or get a b&b somewhere in the countryside
Cambourne
Holiday Inn Express ‘Cambridge West’ (5 miles from the venue)
The Belfry Cambridge (5 miles from the venue)
There is also a hotel called the ‘Stay Inn Express’ which is 3 miles from the venue, but having seen the outside of it I’m not sure how much I can recommend it
Madingley
Madingley Hall (10 miles from venue)
Cambridge
We have never stayed in a hotel in Cambridge, but have always thought the Graduate and the Hilton looks nice (both 15 miles from the venue). We've also recently found out about Wilde, which is opening centrally in July 2025 and looks good!
Other
Vinyl: We have some great record shops in Cambridge. Lost in Vinyl is pretty central and always has the newest releases. The most comprehensive is Relevant Records on Mill Road, but the used sections in Ellimatta (Australian coffee shop) and the Cherry Pit (sweet pie shop) are both great.
Craft: Sew Knit Craft on King Street - beloved home of Yarn Club and the starting point of many of Sarah's craft projects. Backstitch at Burwash Manor also has a particularly nice selection of sock yarn.
Days out & activities: Shepreth Wildlife Park, Jesus Green Lido, canoeing/punting on the Cam (go from the Mill out to Grantchester, not through town!), Cambridge Botanic Gardens, Fen Drayton Lakes for the bird nerds.
Local Recommendations
Food and drink
If you’re looking to make a weekend out of it, you might decide to stay in / explore Cambridge. We have spent the best part of eight years based here and are still discovering great places to eat and drink (mostly drink). Here are a few of our favourite spots!
Food
Noodles Plus on Mill Road
Tiffin Truck on Regent Street (good curry, not quite Gravesend standard but still good)
Banana Leaf on Milton Road (dosas!)
The Permit Room on Trinity Street (Dishoom spin off)
Vanderlyle, also on Mill Road (if you’re feeling really posh – will need to book well in advance)
Jacks Gelato
Maison Clement (aka 'the café that Lewis & Sarah lived opposite for three years that bled their bank accounts dry')
Oscar’s pizza in the Blue Moon or the Portland Arms
Cambridge market (great street food: Sarah’s favourite is falafel with extra pickles, Lewis’ is jianbing)
Mill Mediterranean (Greek cafe with a huge garden, loads of vegan/veggie options and a killer freddo espresso)
Pubs
Champion of the Thames on King Street (the GOAT)
The Elm Tree on Orchard Street (Belgian beers)
The Blue Moon (Sarah’s post roller derby hang spot)
The White Swan on Mill Road (good for sport and Guinness)
The Portland Arms on Chesterton Road (our current local)

Coffee
Hot Numbers is a trusty reliable, whether it's one of their coffee shops in town or their roastery out in Shepreth (a good place for a stop-off if you're coming by the A10 or M11!)
Harvey's Coffee House on Sidgwick Avenue
Kerb Kollective out along the river
Bean Theory on the Mill Pond for a coffee with a view
Dom's Coffee on Mill Road for the real nerds
